All true... on the other side, armor tankers are likely to have hardened armors, meaning that (with the skill at 0) gross damage penetrating the shield makes less 'net' damage to your ship than if that damage would have been absorbed by the unhard...

I found one exactly like that in Placid, I cruised to it in a fast (AB!) frig like you did, and I mined all the roids; it was a pain to haul though (tractor beams FTW), but it's doable... and you're pretty safe while mining :-). Linkage

same problem here, with my low sec salvaging vexor. It has 2 warp core stabs in the lows, and a sensor booster in the mids to compensate that (well, a little...). It sometimes takes several tries just to lock a wreck, especially if I forget to act...
